It seems like many animes and TV dramas have had some sort of tie in to music that we like. This month, this is what Wota Wonderings is all about.

Best of 08

This is Amy of  Merry Go Round‘s ‘Best of 2008′ poll.  From what I gather, we’re supposed to give our opinions for the topic.  Here’s what I thought of 08:

Bests

Best Group Single

This one’s tough.  I’m pretty sure the honors go to Buono!’s Rottara Rottara, though.  Their releases never cease to impress me and Rottara Rottara’s b-side, My Love, is my favourite Buono! track, so far.  The song’s catchy and I love listening to it.

Best Soloist Single 2008 was a slow year for everyone in H!P, and because of that, soloists didn’t really release anything.  I’m going to give this one to Lucky Aura from Mano Erina.  The song itself was worlds better than her debut indies single, Manopiano, and she seemed more comfortable performing this one.

Best Group Album This one is no contest, Morning Musume’s COVER YOU gets this one.  Even though it wasn’t original, I liked every single song on it, and have listened to the entire album over and over again. It’s nice to hear older material get a makeover, too, and who better to give it to them than Morning Musume.

Best Soloist Album Kirari to Fuyu came out a few weeks ago, and I really like the whole album.  It’s a little crack, like all of Koharu’s music, but you can tell she’s trying to give Kirari a less squealy voice and has more vocal control compared to her first two albums.

Best PV This one goes to Berryz Koubou’s MADAYADE.  It’s nice to see H!P use extras in their PVs again, and this is the closest to a storyline a Hello! Project PV has had for a while.  Plus making two sets and everything is pretty cool too.

Group With Best Overall Releases unbiased, this award goes to C-ute.  Their music has the most variation of the three flagships right now, and, though for me it takes some warming up to, the music is good.  They started the year with a cracky song and ended it with an intense one, with some random songs in between.  That’s why the get this one.

Best New Group This one is really tough, as there weren’t really very many new groups this year, but for me, High-King gets this one.  I don’t know how many times i’ve listened to Kioku no Meiro or C\C, but I know that I really like both of those songs.

Best New Soloist I don’t like Suppin Rock, but Ogawa Mana is definitely the superior vocalist.  When I first heard Hitomi ga KiraKirara from Canary Club, I heard Ogamana’s voice and immediately was amazed.  When I looked her up, I was completely flabbergasted that she’s only 15.  I hope to see more from her, and maybe she’ll be NGP’s version of Matsuura Aya!

Best Established Group Berryz Koubou is one of my favourite groups, so they get this award.  I usually don’t like H!P Kids group concerts, but I loved their ~Berikore~ concert, and even though they got sillier releases this year, I loved all of them.

Best Established Soloist Merp.  Soloists had a horrible year, so this goes to no one.

Best Photobook I don’t look at photobooks, but I fell like Re:(Return) gets this one.  I loved Reina’s bunny outfit.

Hottest Idol of 2008 hottest idol?! That’s a really tough one D:  I’m going to go by who seems to be getting the most attention, and that’s Takahashi Ai.  She’s got a drama starting in a few weeks and she was the lead in a musical.  Not only that, but she was in another musical at the beginning of the year (With Niigaki Risa, Kamei Eri and Tanaka Reina) and she did a great job of leading Morning Musume.  I think this year was her year, and next year can only get better.

Worsts

Worst Group Single This goes to Come Together.  I’ve already claimed that OG gets the songs that Tsunku writes when he’s drunk, and this one proves my point.  The song is basically the Satoda Mai show and even fan favourites Ishikawa Rika and Yoshizawa Hitomi get overlooked for H!P’s newest celebrity.  And the poor eggs get nothing at all.

Worst Soloist Single I have no idea what to put here.  Okitegami bored me the most, so that gets the spot.

Worst PV Even though I love monkeys to death and the song is amazing, Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance gets this spot.  The PV was cheap and the outfits were probably found in a thrift store.  Sorry ;-;

Worst Vocalist of 2008 Um. . . From what i’ve heard from Ongaku Gatas, Ishikawa Rika still sounds like a shrieking baby.  She gets this one.

Least Attractive Girl of 2008 Korenaga Miki.  She looks like a boy with hips/Tsunku.  No girl should look like Tsunku.

Now that Elder Club is gone:

Lots of people want to see changes in H!P. I’ve seen tons of blog posts like ‘here’s what i’d do if i was Tsunku,’ and now I want to do one as well.

. . . safe?

Safe for what?

Safe for what?

I read the latest Pocket Morning Weekly (When you go on a trip (not for work) with other members, who is the most likely to fall asleep first? On the other hand, who is the one that would stay awake the longest?)

That was sayu’s answer.  My question back is: wtf do you guys do to Mittsi when she’s asleep? D:

MoMusu rankings version 3.0

A few months, maybe even weeks ago, my morning Musume ranking looked something like this:

1st: JunJun

2nd: Mittsi

3rd: Gaki

4th: Sayu

5th: Eri

6th: Aichan

7th: Koha/Lin/Reina

Now it’s changed.  I guess >.>;

1. My number one is and will always be JunJun.  I loved her a lot since maybe right after she started on Haromoni@.  She’s so strange.  She loves bananas, she’s an admitted sayuwota and she loves haunted houses.  Apparently she invited Risa to one and Risa called her nuts.  Plus after she got the lead in the recent Wonderful Hearts concert for Tropica~l Koishite~ru, I couldn’t help but love her even more.

And nothing beats her famous moments like ‘YACCHIMAINA’ on Haromoni@ or that chinese idiom on Utaban.

2. Aika is the second on the list because I’m still getting the feeling that she loves being an idol because it’s fun.  I have no idea what her intentions were for joining Morning Musume or anything, but when she made her sushi on Harmoni@ or smiled her toothy grin on stage during her solo lines, even when she’d lip sync, you could see in her eyes that she is really enjoying herself.  Plus when she’d hug attack Yossy or gaki at concerts or on DVD magazine’s it was really cute ;D

3. Sayu recently moved up to number 3 because of this picture:

I’ll admit it’s not the most attractive sayu pic out there, but it’s still kind of cute and as wendy said “it looks like she’s trying to fly”

So that’s why she’s third ;D

4. Gaki goes here.  She’s great but she’s not amazing.  That’s why she moved down.  *shrug*

5. Eri goes here because of her solo line in Roman MY DEAR BOY.  And because she’s silly.

6. Aichan is great but for some reason she never really threw herself up to the top.  Honestly I’m a fan of every morning musume member ever right now.  She’s got a nice neck though.

7. LinLin moved up from the last spot because of her performance of that Ayaya song I can never remember the name of from the 2008 winter concert.  When she’s given a srs song to sing, she’ll sing it well.  Giving her random crap songs like Ai~n Dance no Uta and stuff doesn’t show off LinLin’s real talent, so give her more credit.

8: Koharu was tied with Reina but for some reason I moved her up.  Possibly because she’s closer to my age?  I dunno for sure, but for some reason I just started liking her more than Reina.

9. Reina is last because I don’t care, really.  Reina sometimes reminds me of Marippe circa 2001. But then again sometimes Reina’s winking gets on my nerves.

[Review] Relax!

AKB48 has a subunit.  This subunit has a drama.  This drama is called Mendol.

And any drama needs a theme song for the opening right?  Mendol’s opening theme is Relax! by the unit ’No Sleeves,’ which is made up of three Team A members of AKB48:

 Kojima Haruna

Takahashi Minami

Minegishi Minami.

The song is pleasant and has a perfume-y technopop flavour to it, without the electronically altered voices.  There’s even line distribution and it’s nice to see individual members of AKB48 get attention.  I’m no AKB48 expert, so I don’t know the members like I do H!P, so I like subgroups because they let me get to know the members faster rather than clicking a random AKB48 member and reading their life story.  So because of this group and the drama it’s associated with, I can say that these members are among my favourites of the ones that I know, and I know maybe around 10 members by face.

My favourite part of the song is the first spoken line: ‘Ii yo!’ by Kojiharu, because spoken lines with no bgm are the greatest xD  The song is catchy I really like it, especially compared to some of the AKB48 stuff I’ve heard and didn’t like.

Song: 8/10

The PV, for an AKB48 PV, is boring.  It’s got dancing and singing and then the closest thing it has to a ‘storyline’ that most AKB48 pvs have is shots of the girls acting goofy and stuff, a la ‘Come Together’.  I really like the outfits and how the members looked, so that part’s good.

It’s cute, but not a great PV, especially compared to Oogoe Diamond and Keibetsu Shiteita Aijou.

PV: 7/10

Overall: 7.5/10

;D I really like the song and PV, even if the PV is a little boring and the song can get a little repetitive. It’s refreshing to see AKB48 make their units smaller to give people like me an easier time telling them apart.

;D

. . .

lolwut.  I logged onto wordpress today to find that the ‘top searches’ for search engines to find my blog is . . .

Risako nude.

GTFO, plz.

I've got a question.

Recently, I’ve seen surveys from fellow bloggers and seen answers, and now I’ve got my own question.  Just one question.

If you could date  one member of Hello! Project (and were male or lesbian, if you aren’t already), who would it be?

Think before you post though.  I will probably see lots of Airi’s and Risako’s and Reina’s, but I want you to think about every detail, and I mean actual dating, not just sex.  SO DON’T GET TOO EXCITED ;D

To answer that question, I must say I would pick Tokunaga Chinami.

For one thing, she’s gorgeous.  For another, she’s hilarious.  Those are two nice things, in my opinion.  She seems like the girl that would have fun doing just about anything, so that would be a plus.

Also, she seems nice.  That seems like a ridiculous thing, but would you want to date a complete bitch even if she’s hot?  I wouldn’t =/

So that’s why I’d date Chinami ;D

I want to hear your answers! xD
